Rotary Exchange to Germany

Friday, December 16, 2016

Year 12 Graduate Kieran Power is off to Germany in January on a 12 month student exchange. Kieran will attend the EGE school in Annaberg which is close to the Czech border. His first host family lives in the nearby town of Schlettau, population 2,500. Kieran is grateful to his sponsoring club Surfer's Sunrise, which stepped in when Warwick Rotary was unable to sponsor him. Thanks also to school parent, Kieran Doherty for helping this process. Kieran will start in Year 11 then move to Year 12 in July, after the summer holidays. All classes will be in German.

There are eight students from our Rotary District participating in the Youth Exchange Program, including one from Stanthorpe. The group have had a number of orientation sessions and get togethers. We wish Kieran every success with his adventure. The photograph shows the Australian students in their green Rotary blazers with the overseas students on the program in our Rotary District.
