PIRATICAL ESCAPADE AT SOTE
Sunday, October 04, 2015
The Pirate King, a ruthless, yet surprisingly kind hearted captain? Frederic, the ex-apprentice pirate now bent the destruction of piracy? The beautiful and brave Mabel who will wait for her darling Frederic, no matter how long it takes? The Major General, whose general knowledge is second to none, and whose military knowledge is none? Throw in a bevy of beautiful sisters, a collection of cut throat pirates, and posse of policemen whose bravery is questionable at best, and you have the cast of one of the most successful operettas ever written. |
And it is with great pleasure that The School of Total Education presents their senior musical this year, The Pirates of Penzance. The school has a history of producing quality productions, the more recent of which have included Fiddler on the Roof, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, and The Wiz.
Jointly directed by Michael Funder (Film & TV), Colin Alley (Music and Drama) and Ronda Mattarollo (English and Ancient History), the formidable team that brought you Fiddler on the Roof, this production is bound to entertain.
“The cast has been working on the production for the past 6 weeks, learning lines, practicing dances and rehearsing songs” said Michael Funder. “With just over two weeks remaining, the students have just completed a 3-day intensive rehearsal over the holidays. This is an exciting time for the performers, as the production takes on its final form. It’s not long before opening night, when all of the preparation and practice pays off!” Mr Funder added.
The Pirates of Penzance will be performed on two evenings, Friday 16th October, and Saturday 17th October, starting at 7.30p.m at the school’s Vijayadev Yogendra auditorium. Bring along your family and friends, sit back and be entertained by this fine group of talented young performers. Tickets are available now at the school office – 2 Freestone Road, Warwick or by phoning 4661 2666.
