Grade 2's Living Without Technology

Wednesday, November 30, 2016

Grade 2 visited Pringle Cottage to study life without electricity. They enjoyed the morning, particularly the hands on activity of hand washing the clothes, using implements from those times, such as a wash board. The girls had fun dressing in bonnets and aprons. The museum hopes to have outfits for boys soon. The dressing up definitely enhanced the experience and learning. They also visited the kitchen which is set up exactly as it would have been in the early days and learnt about how people cooked and the implements they used. The children came back to school with a better understanding of household life one hundred years or more and a greater appreciation of the electrical gadgets in their homes, which have made life so much easier.
