Cooling Off

Tuesday, February 21, 2017

The arrival of a shade sail at The School of Total Education Building 2 recently was in the nick of time for the expected 38-degree heatwave.  Parents Tony Kost and Chris Collins kindly came in at 7.30am to erect the sail, much to the appreciation of the children.

The children also had a nice surprise at morning tea when they were treated to delicious cold watermelon to help them cool off.  After that they mainly stayed indoors to avoid the excessive heat.

“It is really important to be aware of the effect of the environment on the children and to come up with creative ways, however simple, to help them adjust, then to continue to engage with school activities” said Deputy Principal, Judy Currie.
